MONOCHROME PRINTS(a) The print must be monochrome (i.e. of any colour) with no more than 10% of another colour by painting, collage, toning or other process. (b) The image should be essentially produced and manipulated by the maker but this does not preclude commercial film processing or printing. (c) It is not intended to preclude: - use of digital camera and digital manipulation in a computer. However the digital image must have all colour removed by converting to the grey scale or by complete desaturation at some stage in the process. - images produced photographically by other than silver gelatine process. (d) A photograph can be re-entered again if it has been re-printed using a different composition or technique. (e) The yearly aggregate for Open and Set subjects will be based on the seven highest scoring prints in each category. Entries in the "Best Print of the Year" may either be new prints or prints that have been entered in a previous monthly competition. Four entries allowed for each member. Entries in "The Guest's Choice" are limited to two prints per member. (f) The "Best Print of Year" entries are assessed by an invited judge. The results are usually given at our Annual Dinner. The judge and his partner are our guests at this function and the critique is given after the "Guest's Choice" has been judged. The judge presents the trophy (no points are announced and no placegetters are mentioned). (g)The "Guest's choice" is a fun competition, judged by any non-member present at the dinner. Each guest choses the print they like the best. The print receiving the highest number of votes wins. (h) A special award is the President's Trophy, which is made at his discretion. The basis may be encouragement for a consistent effort in competitions throughout the year, but possibly without successes, a reward for a member's special efforts for the Club. (i) Trophies may be cash, shopping vouchers or photographic material as decided. 2.MOUNTING(A) All entries must be mounted on card or foamcore material. Chipboard and framed prints are not asceptable.The maximum mount size is 40cms x 50cms (16"x20") there is no minimum size. Small prints are quite acceptable. (B) Where doubt may arise as to the correct way to display a print an arrow pointing to the top should be on the back of the mount. 3. SCORINGPrints are scored out of fifteen points, by each member, except members do not vote for their own work. Up to five points can be given for each of the following categories. IMPACT., to cover Creatively, message, strenght, imagination and innovation. Technique, to cover Exposure, print quality, use of elements, lighting, tones etc. COMPOSITION, to cover Design, balance, tonal balance. The full range of prints 1 to 5 in each category should be used. The total of these three categories gives the score out of 15 points. 14 to 15 points a Distinction 12 to 13 points a Commendation 10 to 11 a Credit The competition stewards will calculate the average score for each print to two decimal places. Trophies or awards are given for the highest annual aggregate in both the Open and Set subjects competitions.The aggregate for each section will be based on the seven highest scoring prints for the year. 2 4. GENERAL(a) The Competition Steward or the Committee may reject an entry if the maker is member is unfinancial (b) The Club shall advise all members in writing of any changes to these rules, at least a one month before such changes occur. (c) No print should cause offence by any means. (D) Copies of any print made by any means permission must first be obtained from the maker. (5) DISCLAIMERIt is the responsibility of the entrant to obtain model releases and insure copyright approval is obtained as applicable. Whilst this Club will take all reasonable precautions and care of prints under its control, no responsibility can be taken for accidental damage or loss. 3
